Page 1 of 2 At the Lennen Bilingual School we teach the whole child.
In a developmentally appropriate, international and bilingual environment, we strive to help children attain the height of their potential. By celebrating differences and acknowledging each individual’s learning style, children are able to grow and learn in a safe and supportive setting.
The school offers a program in French and English which is neither experimental nor solely committed to one method of instruction but is based on the sound principles of child development, originally influenced by the teaching of John Dewey: “Play is a child’s way of learning.” The school has since followed recent educational trends by becoming more structured and academically-oriented.
The Lennen School aims to promote an environment where each child is safe, valued, and has his/her needs met throughout his/her development and learning. We are flexible and open to change in our attempt to meet the needs of the child rather than expecting him/her to fit into a set curriculum.
We follow the recommendations of the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs that the learning programs for children should be developmentally appropriate. The activities promote success for the child because they are geared to the child’s developmental stage, individual ability and interests.
For young children learning takes place as they touch, manipulate and experiment with things and interact with people.We encourage the expression of social and emotional issues and explore the hopes, fears, angers, joys and friendships of children to promote emotional growth.
At the Lennen Bilingual School, children will:
- build healthy and positive self-concepts;
